- Knoppix offers you 3 installation methods. We recommend "Installation on FAT32 with additional overlay partition". The Linux operating system automatically creates an additional overlay partition for you. Your personal data will be saved there. This way, your personal data will not be lost if, for example, you have to perform a new installation.
- Answer the following question with "Yes" to prepare the hard disk for installation.
- Then click "Yes" again.
- In the next window you can set the size for the overlay partition. Drag the slider until the size you want appears next to it. Then select "Yes" to save the size.
- All operating system data is then written to your hard drive. You will then be asked if you want to encrypt your hard drive. To secure your data, we recommend that you answer the question with "Yes".
- You need to set a password for encryption. Click "OK" to confirm the password.
- Then you have to enter the same password again and confirm with "OK".
- Finally, finish the installation with "OK". Restart the operating system by clicking "Start"> "Logout"> "Restart". Then boot from the hard drive to start the newly installed Knoppix.
