Just as you can replace some fats with coconut oil when roasting or baking, this of course also works the other way around.
Coconut oil substitute for baking
There are various alternatives for baking:
- Butter is a good substitute for coconut oil. However, you need a little more of this fat. The ratio of the replacement here is 6:10 - 60 grams of coconut oil can be replaced by 100 grams of butter.
- Margarine is available as a vegan alternative. You need a little more of this than coconut oil. Also use the ratio 6:10.
- There are also numerous oils that you can use for baking. In addition to the classic representatives such as sunflower, rapeseed and olive oil, you can also add peanut oil to the dough.
- However, all of these replacement products lack the slightly exotic taste of coconut oil.
Alternatives to coconut fat when roasting
Coconut oil works well for frying because it can be heated to a high temperature.
- Sunflower oil has a similar property. You can use this oil as an alternative.
- Rapeseed oil also has a high smoke point and is therefore a good substitute.
- If you have clarified butter in your house, use it to replace coconut oil. There is a vegan alternative, the ghee.
