Removing contact lenses made easy - how it works
Removing contact lenses takes practice and, especially in the beginning, costs overcoming. This practical tip shows you how to easily remove the visual aids.
Take out soft contact lenses - it's easy
Hygiene is the top priority when inserting and removing contact lenses.
- Before removing the contact lenses from your eyes, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and rinse them off your hands.
- Stand in front of the mirror and first make sure that the lens is on the iris.
- It is best to always start with the same eye when removing the contact lenses. Take the eye with which you see worse.
- Pull the upper eyelid up with your left index finger.
- Then pull the lower eyelid down with your right middle finger. Lower your chin so that you look up in the mirror.
- Tip: Long fingernails are a hindrance when inserting and removing contact lenses. Cut your fingernails if you want to make it easier for yourself.
- Removing the lens directly from the iris is more difficult and less secure than removing it from the white part of the eye.
- Therefore, carefully move your right index finger in the direction of the contact lens and push it gently down into the white area of the eye.
- Here you can gently squeeze and remove the contact lens with the thumb and index finger of your right hand.
- Tip: If you are still inexperienced in using contact lenses, the last step will probably be difficult for you. Then try to slide the lens all the way down and then remove it from the lower eyelid.
- You don't need to be afraid that the contact lens might slip behind the eye. This is not possible due to the anatomy of the eye.
- If you have removed a contact lens, take a deep breath and look at the other eye.
How to remove hard contact lenses
Hard contact lenses are dimensionally stable and cannot be removed in the manner described.
- The easiest way is to remove dimensionally stable contact lenses with the help of a special suction device.
- Moisten the tip of the contact lens vacuum. With the fingers of one hand, pull the upper eyelid up and the lower eyelid down.
- Then press the nipple together and place it in the middle of the contact lens. If you reduce the pressure on the suction pad of the device, the contact lens sucks on it.
- Now you can easily remove the contact lens.
- Alternatively, remove hard contact lenses without a suction cup. Again, hold both eyelids tight with your fingers and blink.
- The blinking releases the contact lens from the tear film that holds it. It falls out.
- Tip: To avoid having to search for your contact lens afterwards, put a hand under your eye to catch it.
