Dispose of pillows: you need to know
At some point even the most comfortable pillow has reached the expiry date and must be disposed of. Disposing of a pillow is not too problematic. But maybe there is another purpose?
Dispose of pillows - you have these options
Disposing of a pillow is easy. If the pillow is really useless, put it in the bin. Slit it open beforehand so that it doesn't take up too much space in the bin.
- If you no longer want to have the pillows in bed, there are a variety of other uses. In most cases, washing the pillows in the washing machine is possible without any problems.
- If you would like to replace a large number of pillows, these will usually be taken from the material yards free of charge. As a precaution, you should clarify this in advance by telephone. Some of the pillows are recycled there.
- Do not put the pillow in the yellow sack as it may contain ingredients that are not recyclable.
- Pets are also happy about a cozy, soft place. Alternatively, bring the pillows to an animal welfare association. Towels, blankets, pillows and the like are always needed there. But even here, before you set off, consult with the club beforehand.
- If the pillows are in good condition, you can provide them to charitable organizations.
- If you have a garden, a terrace or a balcony, you can still use the old pillows there. Buy a fabric that goes well with the garden furniture and sew pillowcases. This is done quickly, looks good and you then have really comfortable back or seat cushions for mild summer nights.
It is essential to replace the bed linen after a certain period of time, no matter how well you take care of your bedding. You can also do something about the mites in the bed linen.
