Headache - these home remedies help
You can also fight headaches effectively with home remedies. Because they often help as well as pain relievers from advertising. We show you here which home remedies really help with headaches.
Home remedies for headaches - what really helps?
If you have a headache, you should not take the tablet straight away. Because especially with frequent headaches you would take a lot of medication in a short time. Headache tablets are real pain relievers. You may experience liver, stomach, or kidney damage as side effects. We therefore recommend our home remedies:
- Coffee: The caffeine in coffee is a good headache remedy. This home remedy mainly helps people who normally drink little to no coffee.
- Water: As a frequent reason for headaches is lack of fluids, a glass of water often helps. If you drank less than 1.5 liters the day before, there is usually a lack of fluid. If you drink at least 2.5 liters, the headache will soon be gone.
- Calm: Stress-related headaches are more common than you think. Because of sensory overload, the head closes at some point and needs silence.
- Moist compresses: If you put some damp cloths on the forehead and neck, calm your head. It doesn't matter whether the towels are warm or cool.
Fight headaches with peppermint
- Peppermint oil: Peppermint oil works almost as well as a pain reliever. It should therefore not be missing in any medicine cabinet. Simply put two to three drops on your fingers and massage your forehead and temples. Keep your eyes, nose and mouth away, as the vapors can irritate the mucous membranes. Even toddlers and babies shouldn't get peppermint oil.
- Peppermint tea: If you don't have peppermint oil at home, you can also use peppermint tea. Several cups of it can have a similar effect to peppermint oil.
- Butterbur and willow bark: A plant alternative are the medicinal plants butterbur and willow bark. Both are available online or in the pharmacy and help against migraines. Willow bark is usually made as tea, butterbur comes in small capsules.
