Copy and paste in the command prompt - how it works
Copying and pasting letters from the clipboard also works in the command prompt. We will show you how to do this here.
Insert paths and other texts in the Windows console
The key combination "Ctrl" + "C" does not work in the command prompt. Instead, you have to do something different.
- Copy the text to the clipboard that you want to paste into the console.
- Right-click in the console window. The "Insert" entry appears in the context menu. If you select this, the text appears in the console.
Copy texts from the command prompt
Copying texts and letters out of the Windows console is a bit more complicated.
- Right click in the console and select "Highlight".
- Select the text you want to copy with the mouse.
- Once you have marked the area, press the "Enter" key. The text is now saved in the clipboard.
We tested it under Windows 7. We show you alternatives to the Windows Console here.
