You don't have to spend money on good graphics programs. There is free graphics software that contains many features and works with elements that are also included in purchase software. We have put together five good freeware graphics programs that we can recommend for home use.
Free graphics programs: filters, layers and tools
- Are you unsure which program you really need to be able to edit pictures extensively? The best alternatives to the paid Adobe Photoshop are clearly Gimp and Paint.NET.
- These graphics programs have extensive editing tools, work at different levels and have some filters integrated. With the right plug-ins, the functions can also be upgraded significantly. In the case of Paint.NET, we have collected suitable plug-ins in this special article.
- For the layman there is still Photoscape. This freeware makes it possible to edit your pictures without specialist knowledge. Basic functions for adjusting brightness, contrast, sharpness and saturation are included here.
Free graphics programs: drawing and painting
- If you want to work more creatively with a graphics program and prettify pictures with drawings or effects, you should use Krita or Autodesk Pixlr. These applications promise a wealth of different filter and design templates as well as realistic drawing and painting tools.
- If you need software for vector graphics, Inkscape is a hot candidate. Vector file is essential for proper icons, symbols and logos. With Inkscape you can easily create them without any special knowledge.
