Remove scratches on the PC monitor - the best tips
Just a little carelessness is often enough, and there is already a scratch in the PC monitor. Removing it or making it less visible can be difficult. Here we have collected the best tips for you to hide the blemish as best as possible.
Scratch away from the monitor - with petroleum jelly
A common method is to rub the scratch with petroleum jelly. Vaseline is similar to the coating on the LCD screen and can therefore replace the missing layer.
- Buy petroleum jelly, cotton swabs, and two microfiber towels in a drug store.
- Clean your display with the microfiber cloth and some water.
- Take the second microfiber cloth and apply some petroleum jelly. Now spread them gently along the entire length of the scratch.
- Wait about a minute and rub the excess petroleum jelly off your monitor.
- Repeat the steps until the scratch is barely visible.
- Alternatively, you can use a polishing paste instead of petroleum jelly.
Erase scratches on the LCD screen
Admittedly, the scratch on your monitor cannot be completely erased. Nevertheless, some want to have successfully treated a scratch on the screen with a simple eraser.
- Buy a soft, white pencil eraser. Never use a used eraser!
- Clean the monitor with a microfiber cloth and some water.
- Then rub the eraser along the entire length of the scratch. Do not apply strong pressure.
- With a little luck, you can hide the scratch a little more.
Heavily scratched display - replacement of the display layer as a last resort
If all methods do not bring any improvement and if the scratch disturbs you strongly while working, you can have the monitor repaired.
- A recommended provider for the exchange of your display layer (polarizer) is, for example, the company TDComponents.
- If you would like to use the offer, enter your name, your e-mail address and the size of your monitor.
- Your request will then be checked by the company and you will receive confirmation whether and how your screen can be repaired. The cost is around 70 to 100 euros.
If your LCD display has suffered red tinge damage, you can treat it with the refrigerator.
