Draw a circle in Gimp - how it works
You can do a lot with the freeware program Gimp. Even drawing a circle is not difficult. We'll show you how.
How to draw a circle with Gimp
Unfortunately, there is no direct selection to draw a circle. You must take the detour via "Elliptical Selection". Just follow the steps below:
- Open Gimp and create a new picture or open an existing one.
- Click "Elliptical Selection" at the top of the toolbar.
- Click the color picker box, which is also in the toolbar. Select the desired circle color here.
- Drag an ellipse with the mouse and hold "Shift" before releasing the mouse pointer to select a circle.
- Now go to the menu item »Edit«. Here you select »Follow up selection«
- In the dialog box that opens, you can also set the line type - for example, its thickness. You can get a nice circle, for example, with the function »Draw with the help of a painting tool« and the selection "Brush".
- Finally, click OK".
Draw a filled circle with Gimp
If you want to fill in the circle, all you have to do in the »Edit« menu item is to select »Fill with foreground color«.
