Use turmeric for healthy, whiter teeth - how it works
Turmeric can gently replace whitening toothpastes for whiter teeth. In addition to the bleaching effect, it also protects your teeth from inflammation and bacteria. You can use turmeric either as a pure powder or as a toothpaste.
How to use turmeric for whiter teeth
You can use turmeric in various ways to whiten your teeth. You either need fine turmeric powder that you put directly on your teeth or other ingredients to mix a paste.
- Take a knife tip of a finely ground turmeric powder. If necessary, you should put the powder in a mortar before use and crush it vigorously to break up the substance. Otherwise you could damage your tooth enamel with the coarse turmeric particles.
- Moisten your toothbrush and put the powder on the brush. Then brush your teeth with the powder.
- Make sure that you also distribute turmeric in the interdental spaces to get a lasting effect.
- After five minutes, rinse your mouth with water and brush your teeth with toothpaste as usual. After a few weeks of use, the effect should be visible.
- If you have cracks in your teeth, you shouldn't use turmeric, as this will cause stained teeth. The powder then gets caught in the cracks and can no longer be cleaned.
- To better distribute turmeric on your teeth, you can also mix it with a teaspoon of coconut oil and apply it to your teeth.
How to make a toothpaste from turmeric
To get the best out of turmeric for your teeth, you should mix a toothpaste. In addition to turmeric, this consists of other ingredients such as sage, peppermint oil and cloves.
- For such a toothpaste you need a few drops of sage tea, a teaspoon of coconut oil, a teaspoon of turmeric powder, 0.5 teaspoon of finely ground Himalayan salt, a teaspoon of xylitol, a little clove powder, a teaspoonful of baking soda and three drops of peppermint oil.
- In order not to damage your teeth by particles that are too large, you should put all coarse ingredients in a mortar and grind them finely.
- Then mix all the ingredients and put them in a small container.
- Brush your teeth as usual with the mixed toothpaste.
- This can also be kept at room temperature.
Turmeric is healthy for gums and teeth
Turmeric not only brightens your teeth, but has many properties that benefit the entire mouth.
- Turmeric has an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect in the mouth. You can also counteract gum swelling with turmeric at the same time.
- Turmeric strengthens your gums and relieves toothache.
- You can treat gum infections with turmeric. To do this, rub the inflamed area with the powder or a coconut oil turmeric paste. If you experience severe or persistent symptoms, you should see your dentist immediately.
