Create a label in Gmail
You can create labels to label your emails on Gmail. You can do this easily via the inbox or the settings.
Create labels in Gmail from the inbox
If you want to assign a new label to an email, you can create it directly in the inbox:
- Open Gmail in your browser.
- If you are not yet in the inbox, click on "Inbox" on the left.
- Mark an email by selecting the box to the left of the email with the mouse.
- Select the rightmost symbol in the search bar (see screenshot) and enter a new name in the "Add label" text box. Click the "Create" button below. The new label has now been created and assigned directly to the selected mail.
Create labels using Gmail settings
To generally expand the selection of your labels, you can also add new labels in the settings:
- Click on the gear on the top right and select "Settings".
- Select "Labels" in the menu bar at the top (the second point from the left).
- Scroll down a little and click "Create New Label".
- Enter a name for your new label in the dialog and click on "Create". The label then appears in the sidebar. You can simply drag and drop emails to the appropriate label to assign them to.
