Difference between LAN and Ethernet
LAN is a local area network. This local network connects various devices such as routers, PCs and printers within their own four walls.
- Special cables are required to set up a local area network (LAN). These are LAN cables. More specifically, however, they are Ethernet cables.
- The LAN cable is just a generic term. This includes all cables that are suitable for setting up a LAN. In addition to the Ethernet standard, the Arcnet and Token Ring standards also existed.
- Ethernet has prevailed and is now the standard. It is a twisted copper cable.
- If you are looking for a new network cable, you do not have to pay attention to the difference between LAN and Ethernet. You always get the same product.
