If your laptop screen flickers, there can be several reasons. In this practical tip we will show you what you can do about it.
Fix the flickering of the laptop screen
If your laptop screen flickers, you may be able to find the cause of the problem yourself. In some cases, however, you cannot avoid visiting a dealer or a workshop.
- The problem is often the lack of a power supply. If the power is cut off, the screen becomes darker and flickers. If the PC is supplied with power, the screen becomes brighter and continues to flicker. You can easily fix this problem yourself by changing the connector or the cable.
- Another cause is the connection cables. A laptop is opened and closed regularly. The lines that supply the screen are constantly kinked and can break. Tilt your device to check if there is a broken cable. In this case, you should consult a specialist.
- Check your graphics card and install the latest drivers. Connect an external monitor. If you see a flickering screen here, the problem is with the graphics card.
- In some cases, color calibration also helps. High contrast values can cause flickering on the screen. Navigate to Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Display -> Calibrate Color. Then follow the instructions.
- If the causes checked so far are out of the question, the problem may be due to the LCD elements in the laptop monitor. Flickering on the screen can also occur here if there are defects. In such a case, it is best to leave the troubleshooting to a specialist.
