Laptop doesn't recognize headphones - you can do that
If your laptop suddenly no longer recognizes the headphones, this may be due to faulty drivers. In this practical tip, we will tell you what you can do about it.
Headphones don't work on the notebook - what to do?
- First, make sure you have properly connected the headphones to the laptop.
- In many cases, a loose contact on the connector is responsible for the headphones not being recognized. Therefore, move the plug gently back and forth to test this.
- The system volume on your PC may also have been switched off. You can recognize this by the red circle at the bottom right by the volume symbol.
- The suitable driver for the headphones may be missing. To do this, open the "Device Manager" in the "Control Panel" and right-click on your sound card.
- You can find these under "Audio, Video and Game Controllers" and "Audio Inputs and Outputs". There, select the item "Update driver" and follow the instructions.
- To test whether the headphones are defective, you can connect them to another port on your PC or you can test them on a completely different device.
- If the headphones are not recognized there either, they are defective and you should replace them.
