Laptop fan rattles - you can do that
If the fan rattles off your laptop, this is annoying, but in many cases it is still not dangerous for your hardware. We show you the most common causes and solutions.
Laptop fan rattles: causes and solutions
- Turn off your laptop for a short time and let the hardware cool down a bit. If your laptop has returned to room temperature, the fan should be much quieter when switched on. In the long run, however, this is not a good solution.
- With a little luck, they are just larger accumulations of dust that obstruct the fan and cause chatter. There are a few things to consider when cleaning the laptop fan. Follow all steps of the instructions to avoid damaging your hardware.
Laptop fan rattles - check defect
- Unscrew your laptop so that you have access to the fan. A chatter has either shifted or otherwise damaged. Small damages can often be repaired by yourself.
- You can find a new fan for almost every model in online shops such as Amazon. The costs are between 20 and 30 euros and can usually be exchanged quite easily. The fans are often only connected with a few screws and a plug.
