If your laptop shows the error message "Mains operation, battery is not charging", the problem can usually be easily remedied. We'll show you what you can do.
Mains operation, is not charged: battery out and in again
Removing the battery for a short time often helps to solve the problem. If the battery is permanently installed in your laptop, skip to the next paragraph.
- Turn off the laptop.
- Remove the power cord and battery. Usually you have to slide a slider to the side to open the battery lock.
- Wait a moment, reinsert the battery and reconnect the AC adapter.
- Start up the laptop again. This should fix the problem.
Mains operation, does not charge: Reinstall battery driver
The error can be caused by a driver problem. Reinstall the battery driver:
- Open the device manager. To do this, open the start menu and search for "Device Manager".
- Click the arrow in front of "Battery" or "Battery".
- You should now see two entries. One for the power supply and one for the battery. Right-click on the battery entry (for example "ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery") and select "Uninstall".
- Confirm the security warning and restart your computer. The driver will be reinstalled automatically and the problem should be resolved.
The last option: replace the power pack or battery
- If the problem cannot be solved as described above, there is a hardware defect.
- You should replace the battery first. If that doesn't help, try the power supply.
- If the problem cannot be solved, contact the manufacturer.
