Laptop: Reduce touchpad sensitivity
You have to be able to reduce and increase the sensitivity of the laptop touchpad as you like, because sometimes it borders on witchcraft: you type a text on your notebook - and the cursor jumps over the document. So your letters appear everywhere, just not where they should be. You can find out how to make control easier here.
Touchpad sensitivity too high - why?
A goblin with IT experience can be excluded. The problem is mostly that the input sensitivity of the notebook touchpad is set too sensitive. Many laptops have a special driver (eg "Synaptics TouchPad") that can be used to reduce this sensitivity in order to avoid the problem. You can often find this application in the system tray (bottom right).
How to reduce the sensitivity of the laptop touchpad
- If such a driver does not exist, the touchpad is integrated into the system as a normal PS / 2 mouse.
- In this case, right-clicking on the "Workplace" icon and then choosing "Properties" in the context menu will help.
- The "System Properties" dialog box opens. Here you click on the "Hardware" tab and there on the "Device Manager" button.
- In the "Device Manager" window there is the entry "Mouse and other pointing devices", which after a double click reveals the touchpad as a PS / 2-compatible mouse.
- With a right click on this entry you get to the properties of the touchpad and there via the sub-item "Advanced Settings" to the option "Sample rate". Here you reduce the degree of sensitivity of the touchpad.
