LaTeX: insert roman numbers - how it works
No matter whether large or small - inserting Roman numbers in LaTeX is not difficult. In this practical tip, we will show you exactly how to do this.
Insert Roman numerals in LaTeX
Of course, Roman numbers can also be inserted in the text tool LaTeX. There are two main commands - one for a simple Roman number and one for automatic numbering. You can then change these commands so that the Roman numerals are either lowercase or uppercase:
- For Roman numerals in the body text, add the macros "\ newcommand {\ Rn} [1] {\ romannumeral # 1 \ relax}" (lowercase numbers) and "\ newcommand {\ RN} [1] {\ uppercase \ expandafter {\ romannumeral # 1}} "(uppercase) before the beginning of the document (" \ begin {document} "). With "\ Rn {1}" or "\ RN {1}" you will receive "i" or "I" in your body text, with "\ Rn {2}" or "\ RN {2}" You "ii" or "II", etc.
- For automatic Roman numbering of chapters and sections, add "\ renewcommand {\ thesection} {\ Roman {section}}" and "\ renewcommand {\ thesubsection} {\ thesection. \ Roman {subsection}}" before the beginning of the document on. For small Roman numbers, change the command section "\ Roman" to "\ roman".
