Drive makes loud noises - what to do?
Loud noises from the drive can be annoying. Here we tell you what you can do about it.
Loud noises from the drive - this may be the reason
There are many reasons for a loud drive.
- First remove the mains plug from your PC and then open the housing. Check whether all cables are intact and whether they are connected correctly.
- Also make sure that the drive is installed correctly and securely and cannot wobble.
- Dust may be the cause of this noise. Therefore, you should clean the drive lens properly. Learn how to clean the drive on the Xbox here.
- The PS3 has different models and therefore different drives. Since these are installed differently, they are also different in volume.
- If your PS4's drive makes loud noises, you can try to muffle it by placing the console on a piece of cardboard on the floor.
- If such a noise occurs on the Mac, go to "System Preferences"> "Save Energy" and remove the check mark from "Hibernation for hard drives".
- If your notebook drive makes loud noises, first check whether you have installed the latest device driver for the drive.
- In addition, some CDs or DVDs can have imbalances. Therefore, test several data carriers.
- Note: A loud drive does not necessarily mean a defect. Since there are different drives as well as different CDs and DVDs, the reading of these data carriers can also be different.
