Import speakers: is that necessary? All information
HiFi fans often discuss whether it is necessary to load speakers. We show how it works - and whether it makes sense at all.
Import speakers - how does it work?
- According to the hi-fi manufacturer KEF, noise is the best signal for playing speakers. The easiest way to generate this noise is to use the noise signal between the transmitters during radio reception.
- Depending on the speaker, this noise should be played between 12 and 48 hours at medium volume.
- Tip: If you stay in the apartment during this time, the constant noise can strain your nerves. If you place the loudspeakers against each other, "face to face", the sound is not distributed as strongly and is therefore more bearable. The distance between the boxes should be about ten centimeters.
HiFi: Better sound by importing speakers?
- If this playing in of speakers has any effect, it is at least not audible to the human ear. Tests with hi-fi professionals have shown that it makes no difference whether a loudspeaker is played or not.
- An effect was only noticeable when the boxes were transported from the store to the customer in winter. In this case, however, no import is necessary. It is enough to leave the speakers in a room with a temperature of at least 12 to 15 degrees before you use them.
- A kind of "import" is actually necessary. However, this only takes a few seconds and is already done during the manufacture of the speakers. The centering spider is expanded by sinusoidal sound waves. As I said, it only takes a few seconds and is already done at the factory.
- You won't need to import your speakers in the future either. You can find out in detail how speakers work in another article.
In the next post we deal with the term "pink noise" and explain what it is.
