League of Legends: the most important terms
Especially for beginners, terms in League of Legends can often not be easily understood. In this practical tip you will learn the most important terms and abbreviations so that you immediately know what is meant during a game.
Important terms in League of Legends
As in many other online games, a different jargon has formed around the game League of Legends. In addition to abbreviations and terms that you may also know from other parts of the Internet such as "lol" or "omg", the LoL universe also has other terms at hand.
- Lane: In LoL, a lane is a path on which minions continuously run and fight against each other. There are a total of 3 lanes on the Summoner's Rift map: top, bot, and mid lane.
- For example, according to the metagame, each team should have a jungler.
- Pick order: The pick order is only available in draft game mode. Here, each player can choose a champion in turn. If the last player in the pick order would like to play support, he should wait to see if his teammates who previously choose their champion want to play the same thing. The pick order is not a fixed rule, but is often used to avoid disputes when choosing a champion.
- SR and ARAM: The acronym SR means Summoners Rift (Summoner's Rift), which is the most played card in League of Legends. ARAM means "All random, all mid" and is a map with only one lane, on which randomly chosen champions play against each other.
- Feeder: A feeder is a person who dies frequently and gives the opposing team an advantage. Often this is not done on purpose, but can be explained by different player strengths. However, there are also deliberate feeders. Such players can be reported after a game.
- Drake and Baron: The Drake and the Baron are 2 monsters waiting for you in the jungle. If your team kills the dragon, the entire team will receive gold. Likewise with the Baron, only this gives you a powerful buff. The two monsters are very competitive, so be careful.
- Build: The items purchased are often referred to as builds. But championships or rune pages also belong to the term. A support build is, for example, a build of championships, runes and items that is primarily designed for supporter champions.
