Lissandra dominates the League of Legends (LoL) as ice witch and with her cool disables the Mid Lane. With this guide, the entire Summoner's Rift becomes your frosty realm.
Lissandra's frosty abilities
As a typical mid laner, Lissandra is an AP carry with high burst potential, but also combines this with numerous crowd control effects and a versatile utility. In order for your combo to really hit the mark, it has to be in the middle of the opposing rows, which can be extremely risky.
- "Ice Shard" (Q) is Lissandra's primary offensive spell that lets you clean up Minion waves extremely quickly. Therefore, be careful not to get to the opposing tower too early so that you do not become attackable from behind. The slow effect only affects the first target. But since the additional fragments have more range, you can still get one or the other kill without a slow if a fleeing champion is unhappy. Bring Ice Shard to level 5 first.
- With "Ring of Frost" (W) the name says it all and a root is in the luggage. With an early point you secure both additional all-round burst as well as good escape and kill options. Whether you bring Ring or "Glacial Path" to level 5 is a matter of taste.
- "Glacial Path" (E) is Lissandra's only skill without a debuff, but a built-in flash that makes you extremely mobile. One point at level 2 or 3 is enough, but if you are more aggressive with the skill than with Ring of Frost, pull Glacial Path up to Ice Shard.
- "Frozen Tomb" (R) is Lissandra's Ultimate and should always be leveled as such. Either you use it to stun a fragile target and knock out a lot of damage, or you can use it to make yourself invulnerable in the midst of your opponents and cause extensive damage. Once you can catch more than one enemy with it, the latter is almost always the best option. But communicate this plan so your team doesn't let you down.
The Frost Queen's Rune Set
Lissandra is a typical glass cannon that should do as much damage as possible with a thick burst. This is of course reflected in their runes.
- Marks: Magic penetration or alternatively scaling or direct AP bonuses all work very well, the former especially in the late game, the former especially for early Pokes.
- Seals: Lissandra catches a hit, so Seals of Armor are never wrong.
- Glyphs: If your mid lane opponent is very aggressive, some spells will also sit, which is why Magic Resist is also appropriate. If you want to be a little more aggressive yourself, Cooldown Reduction is a good choice.
- Quintessences: Flat Ability Power gives your spells the extra dose of punch.
Icy burst masteries
As usual for aggressive champions, Lissandra also concentrates on the offensive tree with 21/9/0 or alternatively 21/0/9.
- Offense: "Summoner's Wrath" is very useful because Lissandra can often use Ignite and therefore often taps this bonus. You sacrifice a point from "Mental Force" - the bonus here is constant, but lower; "Spellsword" gives you a lot more in the long run. The rest are self-explanatory magic bonuses like cooldown reduction and percentage bonuses, which are also noticeable late in the game.
- Defense: If you have aggressive opponents or generally like to fight, 9 points in Defense are worth investing as usual in "Durability", "Hardiness" and "Resistance".
- Utility: Instead of 9 in Defense, 9 in Utility are also worthwhile. Improved mana regeneration is very useful despite Lissandra's passive ability, as her spells are very expensive. Improving Flash and Recall doesn't hurt either - and making the Blue Buff more effective with "Runic Affinity" is a dream for every caster.
Magic equipment
Of course, depending on the situation, you have to respond to your opponents and invest in the right counterattack, but the following items are a solid starting point:
- You will typically start mid lane with a cloth armor and some potions. From there it goes to a "Doran's Ring" and shoes.
- "Zhonya's Hourglass", the "Morellonomicon" and "Liandry's Torment" are all three very strong and should follow along with Tier 2 shoes. It is expensive and takes time, but it is worth it. Zhonya is obvious early on, since the Cloth Armor already exists. However, in her Ultimate, Lissandra already has a similar effect to Zhonya's, so the item can also wait. In general, all three are good and important.
- If your Mid Lane opponent hits you, an "Athene's Unholy Grail" can often help. Otherwise, other good items are of course AP classics like "Void Staff" and "Rabadon's Deathcap"
The right summoner spells
Lissandra is already very flexible due to her skills, but with Flash she becomes even more mobile, which compensates for her slow running speed in dangerous situations or when chasing. Due to her tendency to melee, Ignite can almost always be used and gets the kill that would otherwise have escaped.
The correct handling of Lissandra
- Glacial Path is a great form of transportation, but if you have to flee, it can easily confuse your opponents. Sometimes firing "Glacial Path" in one direction and then running in the other can help. Follow your chase along the ice path, just keep running the other way. However, if the opponents don't let you down, you can still quickly teleport to the other side and have created some space there.
- A good combo to start a team fight is "Frost Shard", then "Glacial Path", with which you teleport to the opposing group, followed by "Ring of Frost" or directly "Frozen Tomb". This makes you invulnerable in spite of your small chance of survival and can cause great damage to the opposing team. Just be careful that your team doesn't leave you alone, you can even survive a near-suicidal action like this.
- This combo works a lot better if you have champions like Amumu on the team who can stand a lot more and are also great at knocking out enemy groups.
Essential for every fight in League of Legends is not only that you master your champion, but also the knowledge of your opponents. If you regularly want to quickly look up who you have in front of you, the League of Legends Champions app is definitely a good companion for you.
