League of Legends: How Supporter Thresh plays
In this practical tip on League of Legends you will learn important tips for how Thresh plays as a supporter. We not only give you information about various items, but also about possible championships and rune pages.
Leage of Legends supporter Thresh on bot lane
Your goal as a supporter is to protect the AD carry as much as possible. Thresh's capabilities offer several options. With the “Dark Path” skill, you throw your lantern onto the field that gives a shield to nearby allies. By right-clicking on the lantern, a teammate can also be drawn directly to you. With “death sentence”, on the other hand, you draw your opponents towards you and put you out of action for a short time. If you activate the ability again, you will be dragged behind the opponent and will be within easy reach. In order to put the opposing bot lane under pressure at the beginning, it is recommended to remove “flogging” first. Your damage is increased by the passive ability of the skill as long as you don't land an auto hit. So you should always wait until “Whip” is fully charged before striking. Your Ultimate Attack is called “The Box” and surrounds you with 5 spectral walls that damage the opponent and slow him down. In order to be able to intervene effectively in the game, you should follow the following skill sequence:
- Start at level 1 with “death sentence”.
- Level 2 is followed by "flogging" and level 3 is followed by "dark path".
- For an aggressive style of play, first expand “Whip” and then “Dark Way”.
- If you are playing more passively, build out “Dark Path” first.
- Skill “The Box” whenever possible (levels 6, 11 and 16).
Items for Thresh
Thresh is not very different from other supporters, such as Lulu, when it comes to items. Eyes are a top priority to keep sight on the battlefield. Therefore a “seeing ruby stone” should be one of your items. The "Boots of Mobility" are recommended for a quick movement. Thresh is often played a little more defensively, with items such as the "Amulet of the Iron Solari", "Randuin's Omen" or the "Sunfire Cape" helping you. The following items are recommended in the end game:
- The item "Defense Totem" helps to ensure adequate vision. If you bought the item "Ruby Sightstone", you can exchange your trinket and get "Lens of the Oracle". With this item you destroy enemy eyes.
- In addition to the "Defense Totem", you also buy "Doran's Shield" and a healing potion as start items. Then you should focus on the "Amulet of Ascension".
- If the opposing team has a strong AD carry, the following items are recommended: "Amulet of the Iron Solari", "Randuin's Omen", "Sunfire Cape" or "Frozen Heart".
- You react to a strong AP carry with the following items: "Mind view", "Mikael's melting pot" or "Banshee's veil".
The right runes and championships for Thresh
To take advantage of Thresh's defensive skills, we recommend runes that increase your armor and magic resistance. Their championships are also designed to ensure you a secure supply of gold as well as to play Thresh's defensive strengths. The following runes and championships are therefore recommended:
- Sign: Large sign of attack damage
- Seal: Great armor seal
- Glyphs: Great Glyph of Magic Resistance
- Essence: Great Essence of Life
- For an aggressive style of play, this skill is recommended: 9/21/0. If you want to go into the game more defensively, you should use this skill: 0/21/9.
This Thresh Guide serves as a first orientation. Items, runes and championships can be varied for more damage, for example. If you want to play more supporters than Thresh, we recommend this Lulu guide.
