League of Legends: Warding guide for beginners
In the MOBA "League of Legends" you can acquire and use so-called "wards" within a game. In our Warding Guide for Beginners, we would like to give you important information about "Warding", which should help you in the next game.
League of Legends: These are wards
Many players do not know that the so-called "Wards" (in the German version: "Auge") in League of Legends sometimes determine to a large extent whether a team wins or loses. With the "Wards" you as a player make a certain area on the map visible to your entire team for a specified time. For example, you can view enemy champions, "wards" of the opposing team or skills such as Teemo's "poison trap" for a selected area for the specified time.
- The following applies: The more and the more strategically a team places "eyes", the higher the chance of victory. Especially at the beginning of a match, the "eyes" play an important role because they strategically place enemy plans to attack the jungle out of the jungle.
- There is no clear division of roles for "warding" in League of Legends, since at the start of the game every player can choose a "jewelry" item that allows you to set an "eye" at first.
- Ideally, every player, regardless of his role in the match, should be involved in warding. However, it is particularly useful for the champions of the "Support" and "Jungle" classes to set most "Wards" because class objects provide them with additional "eyes".
Warding Guide: Different types of wards and view items
League of Legends has two different types of "eyes", as well as numerous items that allow you to place these "wards". At the same time, the real-time strategy game contains various "view" items, with which you can find enemy "wards" and make them harmless.
- There are two different types of "wards": the "camouflaged eye" and the "magic eye". While the "camouflaged eye" only costs 75 gold and you can carry up to three of them with you at the same time, you have to spend 100 gold for the "magic eye" and it is limited to two copies in your inventory.
- Both types of "wards" cover up to three minutes an area of the same size and selected by you. However, there is a subtle difference between the "Camouflaged Eye" and the "Magic Eye": In contrast to the "Camouflaged Eye", you see invisible champions and objects with the "Magic Eye".
- Your opponents may also set "wards", which is why you should try to destroy as many "eyes" of the opponent as possible. If you destroy an opponent's "eye", the effect of the "guard" will also be lost and you will receive additional gold. There are a variety of "view" items that you can use to uncover enemy "wards".
- The easiest way to find a "ward" of the opponent is to set up a "magic eye" where you suspect the invisible helpers, because the "magic eye" reveals enemy ward. The "decorative lens" is particularly effective in your search, since it does not consume gold and shows all enemy "eyes" within a certain radius for a short moment.
- In addition, there are many other "view" items such as the "defense totem", the seeing ruby and the seeing stone, the "Wriggles Lantern" and the "soul of the old golem". The mentioned items are predominantly preferred by the "Support" and the "Jungler".
League of Legends - strategically place wards
"Wards" are particularly important at the start of the game, as the "jungler" lurks in the opaque jungle area to ambush you and win additional gold for his team. The gold is invested in items and gives the player a decisive advantage early on. It is therefore important that you put an end to the enemy "jungler" and strategically place the "wards".
- It is best to set "wards" in places where the opponent does not suspect them and where they will benefit you and your team. Use the "eyes" mostly to place them in the jungle, more precisely in the lake and in the enemy area.
- Depending on the game situation, players choose offensive or defensive warding. Offensive "warding" means that you use the "eyes" where you suspect that the enemy could possibly escape. With the help of defensive "warding", on the other hand, you are made aware of enemy champions and have enough time to escape.
- Always place "wards" at a longer distance from each other. Multiple "eyes" in one area are disadvantageous and can be found more easily by the opponent. Use the full effect radius of the "Wards" by placing them as far apart as possible.
- Place as many "eyes" as possible in bushes and in the jungle, where several paths cross. At the same time, secure the neutral monsters for your team, which are also in the jungle and bring a lot of gold to the team by setting your eyes in the immediate vicinity of the computer-controlled monsters.
- You should not set any "wards" in the following areas: areas that can be seen on the map without the "eyes", your base, in front of or exactly between two bushes, at dead ends, at borders or in places that are unlikely to give you any information about the location of your opponents.
In order for you to be able to place wards strategically, you need to know the specifics of the respective playing cards. In another practical tip, we have therefore summarized all cards in League of Legends in an overview.
