League of Legends: what roles are there?
In League of Legends there are a total of 3 lanes where minions spawn and fight. Each lane places its own demands on the champions who fight on it. In these practical tips, we will show you which roles are played most frequently in the current LoL meta-game.
Top Lane: Battle of the Tanks
Champions who can take a lot can often be played on the top lane. You play alone against an opponent on this lane. So-called Bruisers are also often used. These are heroes who can endure a lot but can also hand them out well. The most played top lane champions include Darius, Aatrox or Rengar. But AP champs like Teemo can also be played on the top lane. It is important here, similar to the Mid-Laner and the AD-Carry, that you have a high creep score, which means making as many last hits as possible. This ensures you gold, which you need for items.
Mid-Lane: The wizards in League of Legends
There is also a one on one on mid lane. In contrast to the other lanes, you prefer a champion in the middle who has a lot of magic power. This means that you are heavily dependent on mana, but have a high burst damage, which means that you can kill enemies within a few seconds. You can stand relatively little for that. Mid-Lane champions include, for example, Lissandra, Annie or Zyra. AD heroes are rarely used, such as Zed. You should also achieve a high creep score on this lane.
AD-Carry: Full attack on bot lane
The AD carry also needs a high creep score in order to be able to use its full potential. The ADC plays with the supporter on bot lane. As the name suggests, the AD carry causes physical attack damage. Although it does not have a burst like the Mid-Laner, you are constantly doing damage with your ADC. However, AP carriers are rarely used, meaning champions with magic power. ADCs include, for example, Vayne, Varus or Ashe.
Supporter: Protect your AD carry
The supporter is there to protect the AD carry on bot lane in the early game and to strengthen his teammates in team fights as the game progresses. You are also responsible for the view through the eyes, which you can distribute throughout the map. The supporter doesn't make any last hits. This gives you more time in the initial phase and you can watch the map to give your fellow players important clues, for example where the enemy jungler is. Common supporter champions include Sona, Nami and Thresh.
Jungler: The only role without a lane
With the jungler, you don't spend your time on a lane, but in the jungle. There are also monsters that can be killed and give you important buffs. Your main task is to support all 3 lanes. You do this with ganks, which means you unexpectedly emerge from the jungle and kill your opponents. However, you need some experience to know when and where to strike. Junglers are often tanks that can withstand a lot. Common jungle champions are, for example, Vi, Jarvan IV or Hecarim.
Vayne is an outstanding character for the role of AD carry. Here are the best tips for the Assassin.
