QLED technology is currently very popular in the multimedia sector. In our practical tip, you can find out what lifespan you can expect with a new television or monitor.
QLED screen life
Both televisions and monitors are now offered with QLED technology. There are still no exact figures. As a rule, however, you can assume that the lifespan is more than 100, 000 hours.
- The "Q" in QLED stands for "Quantum Dots". What is meant by this is that the special plastic film between the LED backlight and the LCD panel is not provided with organic semiconductor materials as with OLEDs.
- Instead, with a QLED display, this film is equipped with tiny nanoparticles in different sizes. Quantum dots - in German quantum dots - emit colored light when they are illuminated with high-purity blue LED light.
- This technology means that the screens are significantly less susceptible to UV radiation, moisture or oxygen, as is the case with OLEDs. As a result, the lifespan of a QLED screen is potentially longer than the lifespan of OLED displays.
Conclusion: QLED brings clear advantages, especially when used intensively. However, the display technology is not solely responsible for the longevity of the device. In our next post, we will explain how you can estimate and improve the lifespan of TVs.
