Empty DHL email with PDF - is this spam?
For some time now, emails with DHL as sender have been in the inbox for many users. These emails are empty, a PDF file is attached. Do not click on the links, because this mail is spam. In this practical tip, you can read how to recognize spam and what else you need to watch out for in such emails.
Empty DHL mail with PDF - spam?
The empty emails, allegedly sent by DHL, are so-called phishing emails.
- DHL generally does not send emails with PDF files attached. You can clearly see that this is a fake mail.
- So far, you can open the PDF file safely, but you should stay away from it. It is conceivable that in future the sender will also send mails with Trojans or viruses attached.
- The PDF usually contains a link for shipment tracking. This link hides a trojan that is downloaded when you click the link.
- You should delete such emails from DHL and never open the files in the attachment.
- Current safety instructions and information can also be obtained directly from DHL.
- If you receive suspicious emails that contain links, you should always be careful. A little trick can help to expose the sender: If you move the mouse over the link, the address will be displayed. If this is not the official website of the supposed sender, it is best to delete the email immediately.
If you've caught a trojan, we'll show you in the next practical tip how to safely remove the virus.
