Insert bookmarks in PDFs
You can insert bookmarks in PDF files to find individual pages even faster. In this practical tip, we'll tell you how.
Insert bookmarks in PDFs - with this software it works
You cannot insert bookmarks with the free Adobe Reader. This only works with the "Adobe Acrobat Pro 11" for about 650 euros. Instead, you can set bookmarks with the free software "Foxit Reader".
- Open the PDF file with "Foxit Reader".
- In the upper left area of the screen, click on the small paper symbol with the purple bookmark. This opens the so-called "bookmark view".
- Now scroll to the page you want to bookmark. To add the bookmark, click on the green "+" symbol in the bookmark menu (see picture).
- Then enter a name for the bookmark.
- To save the bookmark in the PDF file, you still have to click on "File"> "Save As" and select the desired storage location.
Windows 7 and Foxit Reader version 6.1.1.1025 were used in these instructions. Read also how to print a protected PDF document.
