New browser, new problems: how do you import bookmarks into Safari? In this guide you will find two easy ways to get your bookmarks into the Apple browser.
Import bookmarks from the Safari menu
Before you can feed Safari with the bookmarks of your old browser, you must first export them from there. In Firefox this works via the menu function "Bookmarks - Import and save - Export bookmarks to HTML". With Google Chrome you will find the command in the bookmark manager under the menu item "Organize". Both browsers save bookmarks as HTML files with "bookmarks" in their names. You just need to know where they saved you. Work through the following points:
- Open the Safari browser.
- Click on "File" in the menu bar.
- Select "Import Bookmarks."
- Open the folder where you saved your bookmarks.
- Select the desired HTML file.
Drag and drop bookmarks into Safari
The simpler solution is that you simply slide your folder in which the web addresses are located into the browser.
- To do this, open the bookmarks window in Safari.
- Then click on your bookmarks on the desktop and drag them to the browser. You can either import individual bookmarks or entire folders.
This guide applies to OS X 10.8.2 with Safari version 6.0.2. The process is similar for other systems.
