Connect LG TV to the Internet
Smart LG TVs should be connected to the Internet in order to really be able to use the full range of functions. After successfully connecting to the Internet, you can watch videos on "YouTube", use video streaming services such as Maxdome and Lovefilm and access media files from network hard drives and local computers. In this article, we explain in detail how you can connect your LG TV to the Internet.
How to connect your LG TV to the Internet
- First of all, you need to clarify whether your TV has integrated WiFi. If this is the case and you have set up a WLAN network at home, all you have to do is enter your WLAN password in the corresponding options menu and the television does the rest. Normally, the options menu is displayed the first time you set up the television. If you want to change something again afterwards, read the manual to find out how to access the network settings again. The procedure can differ from model to model.
- If your LG TV does not have built-in WiFi, you can buy a WiFi dongle with which you can upgrade the WiFi functionality. The LG AN-WF100 is the right choice for all LG models that support retrofitting (please check the manual beforehand). After plugging in, the TV shows directly the options menu, in which you only have to enter the password.
- The easiest way to connect your LG SmartTV is via a LAN cable. To do this, simply plug the cable into the corresponding port on the TV and the TV connects to the Internet.
If you have misplaced the TV manual, you will find it here. And please don't fall for alleged WLAN cables, as this admittedly somewhat outdated example shows.
