LG TV: perform software or firmware update
Modern LG TV sets require firmware updates regularly. This serves to deliver apps, improve services or correct errors. We show you how to carry out such firmware updates.
Update LG firmware automatically
This applies above all to all LG TV devices that you can connect to the Internet via WLAN or network cable. The TV then automatically searches for the latest update regularly and then notifies you at certain intervals.
- You can also easily check for updates manually with network-compatible LG TVs.
- Select the "Settings" button on your LG remote control.
- In the menu on the left, go down to "Support".
- With the first point "software update" you can manually check for the latest version.
Download and install LG TV firmware manually
If your LG TV is not yet network-compatible, you have to manually save the update to a USB stick in advance. The firmware can then be called up on the TV.
- Prepare a USB stick in "FAT 32" format. We show you how this works in this practical tip on USB sticks.
- Create a folder called "LG_DTV" on the USB stick.
- Look for the appropriate firmware update for your device on the LG Support website.
- Switch off your television and connect the USB stick to a free USB slot.
- Now start the TV, the update now starts automatically.
