LibreOffice Calc: Conditional formatting - how it works
This guide shows you how to use conditional formatting in LibreOffice Calc.
Use conditional formatting in LibreOffice Calc
- In LibreOffice Calc click on "Tools" and under "Cell contents" tick "Automatically calculate".
- Then choose Format and click Conditional Formatting. You can now choose from the "Condition", "Color bar", "Data bar", "Icon set" and "Date" items. All conditional formatting can be managed via "Manage".
- You can define any number of conditions by clicking on "Condition". To do this, define the condition in the first row and then select the appropriate template. You define the area at the bottom of the window and confirm your entries with "OK".
- Under "Color bars" you can specify that the selected cells are automatically marked in color according to the entered value.
- Using the "Data bar" option, values of the selected cells are automatically supplemented by a bar, the size of which depends on the entered values. You can select the appropriate colors under "More options".
- Under "Symbol set" you can display symbols for individual values.
- The item "Date" allows formatting depending on a date, such as "today", "last week" or "this month". You can add further conditions using the "Extra" button.
- All created conditions can be edited or deleted afterwards using the "Manage" button.
In the next practical tip we will show you how you can insert line breaks in a table cell in LibreOffice.
