LibreOffice Impress: Images disappear - what to do?
In LibreOffice Impress, images sometimes disappear after you reopen your presentation. We'll show you what you can do about it.
Images disappear: restore in LibreOffice Impress
If images in "LibreOffice Impress" are suddenly gone, you may be able to restore them.
- In Windows Explorer, navigate to the file path "User"> your user name> "AppData"> "Roaming"> "LibreOffice"> "4"> "User"> "gallery". Alternatively, you can enter the URL directly in Windows Explorer C: \ Users \% yourusername% \ AppData \ Roaming \ LibreOffice \ 4 \ user \ gallery.
- All images that you have ever imported into LibreOffice Impress are saved in this folder.
- With a little luck, you can still find your image file in the folder, although LibreOffice Impress can no longer do it.
Insert images securely in LibreOffice Impress
If images have disappeared in LibreOffice Impress, the program can no longer find its own copies of the image files. To prevent this from happening, you should save images in a specially created folder and only insert them via a link.
- Create a folder on your computer where you want to save all your images for LibreOffice Impress.
- If you want to insert an image into an Impress presentation, first copy the image into the created image folder.
- Then click on "Insert" and "Image ..." in the top bar of LibreOffice.
- In the "Insert picture" window you now select the picture you want to use.
- Important: Make sure that the "Link" check box is set. Then confirm with "Open".
- When inserting an image for the first time, you have to remove the check mark at "Ask me when linking a graphic" and confirm again with "Keep link".
- The image in the Impress file is now loaded directly from the original file each time it is opened.
