LibreOffice: insert root symbol
You can insert the root symbol in LibreOffice in various ways. We present two of them in this practical tip.
Insert root characters in LibreOffice
Both of these ways lead to the goal, but LibreOffice displays the root characters differently. Therefore, it is best to try both ways:
- Click on "Insert" at the top of the menu bar and select the "OLE object" option under the "Object" category.
- Decide here either for a "LibreOffice formula" or select the "Microsoft formula editor" via "Other objects".
- LibreOffice formula: A new area opens in which you can enter the root using the "sqrt {number}" command. Create the root of 4 with "sqrt {4}", the third root of 4 with the command "nroot {3} {4}".
- Microsoft formula editor: Microsoft's editor makes things much easier and more attractive. Select the root at the top of the window and type in the desired number. You can then insert the root into LibreOffice using the key combination [Ctrl] + [C].
You can find many more symbols using the formula editor. In the next practical tip, read how to write a heart symbol with the keyboard in LibreOffice.
