Transfer songs from CD to PC: how it works
If you want to digitize your music collection, you have to transfer the songs from your CDs to your PC. We'll show you how it's done.
Transfer music from CD to PC
The instructions refer to the Windows Media Player. It is already installed on every Windows system. You can also use other programs such as iTunes or the VLC player. The procedure differs there, however.
- Open the CD drive of your computer and insert the desired music CD. A program such as iTunes or the VLC player may now open automatically. Close it again.
- Press the "Windows" and "R" keys simultaneously so that the "Execute" command opens. Enter "wmplayer.exe" there and click "OK".
- On the left in the navigation bar of the WMP you can see the title of the CD behind a small CD symbol (see picture). Click on it.
- You will receive a list of all the tracks on the CD. There is a box in front of each title that has already been checked. If you do not want to transfer a title, simply remove the tick.
- If you click the "Copy CD" button at the top of the menu bar, the songs will be transferred to your computer. With a normal CD, this can take three to ten minutes.
- When the process is finished, you can find the music by clicking on "Music" in the menu bar on the left. If you click with the right mouse button on a song, the context menu opens in which you select the item "Open file location". Here you can see where the music is stored and can move it to any folder.
