Lightroom: How to create a panorama
Adobe Lightroom makes creating professional panoramic images easier and faster than Photoshop. We'll show you step by step how to create your own panorama in Lightroom.
Create panorama in Lightroom - how it works
With Lightroom CC you can not only manage photos and make small improvements, but also create panoramic images, for example. You can do it in no time with the following steps:
- Open the corresponding folder in which the photos for your panorama are located and select them. You can select multiple photos by holding down the Ctrl key.
- Then select Photo> Photo Merge> Panorama from the program bar. It's quicker with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + M.
- A new dialog opens in which you are asked about the method of joining. With the "Automatically select projection" function, Lightroom automatically combines the selected photos and creates your panorama.
- This usually results in a white border on the image. To cut out the panorama perfectly, Lightroom already suggests a pre-selection that you can accept or adjust.
Lightroom: Different panorama methods in detail
If you have created your panorama with Lightroom, you can choose between "Automatic" and 3 other methods in the dialog window. Here are these methods in detail:
- Spherical: Your photos are arranged as if you were looking out of the center of a sphere. This is particularly suitable for very wide shots or even multi-row panoramas.
- Perspective: This mode puts the individual images together so that they form a flat surface. This means that straight lines remain straight in perspective and are not bent.
- Cylindrical: With this method, the photos are combined so that they run around the viewer like a cylinder. Here vertical lines are not distorted, but remain straight.
