If you have a camera that supports tethering, you can import images directly into Lightroom. We explain how this works here.
For example, if you work in a photo studio or have your camera connected to a laptop on the go, you can take pictures directly on your PC.
- First of all, you should check whether your camera supports tethering. Adobe has created a list of cameras that are capable of tethering.
- Connect your camera to the computer and start Lightroom.
- Navigate to File> Tether Recording> Start Tether Recording.
- Now make some settings in the subsequent dialog box.
- Enter a folder name under "Session Name".
- If you want to create subfolders later, activate "Segment photos by recordings". You can then assign names to the subfolders.
- With "Naming" you can choose from different variants how your files should be named during the import.
- Enter the storage location under "Destination".
- Under "Information" you can add metadata if necessary. If you select "New", a dialog window opens with a variety of options.
- Click "OK" and start recording.
- A freely movable control panel now appears.
- To take a photo, you can either hold your camera in your hand and press the shutter release button or click on the round circle in the control panel.
- Your image has now been imported to Lightroom and is displayed in the preview area.
- Via "File"> "Tether recording"> "Stop tether recording" you close the control panel and end the recording.
