Failed to start LSB on Ubuntu
If you have an Ubuntu Linux or a related system like Linux Mint and receive the error message "Failed to start LSB", then proceed as follows:
- This is a bug that appeared in older versions of Ubuntu. So your system appears to be out of date.
- Perform a system update. There are also English and German instructions.
- Alternatively, it may be worthwhile to completely reinstall your system.
Problems with the network manager
In some cases, especially with Cent OS, the error has to do with the network manager.
- As a first attempt, restart the Network Manager by entering the following command in the terminal: systemctl restart NetworkManager
- If this did not help, a quick solution is to deactivate the manager by entering the following commands in your terminal: systemctl stop NetworkManager and systemctl disable NetworkManager
- Undo this with: systemctl enable NetworkManager and systemctl start NetworkManager
- You may have an error in your configuration file. Open / etc / sysconfig / network-scripts / ifcfg-eth0l .
- The variable BOOTPROTO will be set in this file. If it is set to "none", change it to "static" and restart the manager: systemctl restart network
- Alternatively, the file / etc / sysconfig / network is required by the network manager in some circumstances. Create this and restart the manager: touch / etc / sysconfig / network and systemctl restart network
