Linux: Find large files - how it works
This practical tip shows you how to find large files on Linux. Our example is based on Ubuntu 12.04.
How to Find Large Files in Linux
First open the terminal using the key combination [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [T] or enter "Terminal" in the search bar.
- Enter "find -size + xM -size -yM in the console. The x stands for the minimum file size, y for the maximum number of megabytes.
- In our example (see picture) we chose "find -size + 10M -size -12M". Linux determines exactly the files that are between ten and twelve megabytes in size.
