Linux: Use OneDrive on Ubuntu - how it works
In this article, we'll show you how to use OneDrive on Ubuntu. First of all: Microsoft does not offer an official sync solution for the Linux operating system. We'll show you how you can do it anyway.
Use OneDrive on Ubuntu with OneDrive-D
With the third-party tool "OneDrive-D" you can also use OneDrive on Ubuntu:
- Download OneDrive-D. Save it in the downloads directory.
- Now right-click on the ZIP file and click on "Extract here".
- Now open a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) and enter the following command:
- cd Downloads / onedrive-d / onedrive-d-master /
- You are now in the directory of the OneDrive-D folder. Then install the program with this command:
- sudo ./inst install
- Enter your password and press "y" when asked for the storage space and then press Enter.
- After installation, the OneDrive-D settings window opens. Log in here now and connect to your OneDrive account.
- Now that you have selected a folder on your hard drive and confirmed everything, you can close the settings. Then go back into the terminal and enter the following command:
- onedrive-d
- OneDrive-D now syncs your OneDrive folder with the local folder in Ubuntu. This may take some time depending on the speed. After that, your folders are synchronized. Finished!
