Live wallpaper on Windows 10 - how it works
With a live wallpaper you can spice up your desktop in Windows 10. Unfortunately, this does not work with Windows board resources. You need a tool with which you can activate Live Wallpaper. We show you how to get the video background.
DeskScapes: Dynamic backgrounds in Windows 10
The DeskScapes tool allows you to set up live wall papers in Windows 10. You can download numerous finished video wallpapers - so-called dreams - from the manufacturer's website or create them yourself using the DreamMaker tool provided. Deskscapes can be tested free of charge for 30 days, after which you have to activate the program for $ 10.
- Download the DeskScapes tool and install it on your computer.
- Open the tool and select the "Start 30 day trial" option. Then enter a valid email address and click on "Continue".
- Before you can use the program, you must confirm your email address using the link in the email you received. Also check your spam folder if you have not received an email.
- Now you can set one of the displayed backgrounds by clicking on it and choosing "Apply to my Desktop" on the right. Alternatively, you can click the small arrow to the right of the button and set up the video as a screen saver.
- If you download additional backgrounds to your PC, save them in any directory. It is then recognized by DeskScapes and displayed in the selection.
Free alternative: play videos on the desktop with the VLC player
With the free VLC player, you can also play videos on the desktop. The disadvantage: The player has to be open and the video runs on the desktop, so shortcuts are covered.
- Download the VLC player and install it on your computer.
- Open any video with the VLC player. A selection of dynamic background images can be found here at CHIP.
- Click on "Video" in the menu bar of the VLC player and select "Use as background".
- If you want the video to loop continuously on the background, click the loop icon at the bottom of the VLC player.
