You don't necessarily have to be a professional graphic designer to design logos. With our tips you can design your own logo.
1. Format your logo
Your logo represents your company in all respects, so the format should be chosen so that you can adapt and vary it.
- Therefore, be sure to design your logo in a vector program, such as Adobe Illustrator.
- This means that your identifier can be printed both very small and on large posters.
2. Design tips: structure and contrast
Exciting, interesting and easy to recognize: these are the most important features of your perfect logo.
- Use targeted contrasts through colors, fonts, etc. This creates an exciting impression.
- The human brain can better remember completed objects. Therefore, make sure that your logo is closed and if possible without missing fragments.
- Another aspect is uniformity: Your logo should be as symmetrical as possible or evenly spaced. This also applies to your letters and spaces.
3. Effect: design & target group
Always put yourself in a customer's shoes and see if they can identify with your logo.
- Depending on the customer base, your identifier should appear colorful or serious, for example.
- Your potential customer should quickly and easily recognize the area of activity and possible advantages of your company.
- Above all, stay one thing: unique. Do not try to follow the trend, but stick to the character of your company.
4. Your logo must be able to do this!
In order for your logo to be perfect, it should meet these points if possible:
- Permanent: Make sure that you can use your logo again and again and that it is as timeless as possible.
- Readability: Your identifier should be legible and recognizable in all sizes and colors (black and white).
- Simple & informative: A customer should be clear about your logo quickly and yet sufficiently clear what your company stands for.
- Individualism: Your logo identifies your company. Therefore, stay original and clearly recognizable.
5. Use and protection
Now that you have created your perfect logo, you should use and protect it optimally.
- Find out from the German Patent and Trademark Office to what extent you can protect your logo.
- Your logo is the basis for your cooperative design. From now on, this design runs best in terms of color and format throughout your entire company (business cards, website, ...).
- Present your logo as often and as presently as possible without imposing it on the other person. This is the only way to create a recognition value with character.
- A 'protection zone' around your logo helps to direct the viewer to the logo and to display it better. Therefore, always use a little space around your logo.
You can also create vector graphics in Photoshop - but we recommend Illustrator for the logo design.
