LoL Guide: Teemo AP Mid
The brave Scout Teemo makes the mid lane unsafe with his AP build in LoL. With our guide, the Jordle also dominates your League of Legends.
Teemo's scouting skills
Teemo has a lot of potential for different ways of playing, but most of all his opponents hate him for his explosive mushrooms, which he can distribute on the map. This is exactly what the Ability Power Build, which is often played in Mid Lane, focuses on. But his other skills also benefit from the AP boost:
- Blinding Dart (Q) deals magical damage and blinds the target, preventing standard attacks from hitting for a few seconds. A point at level 2 should be, but usually focus on "Toxic Shot" first - unless you are facing an opponent whom you rarely catch with individual attacks. In this case, neglect "Toxic Shot" and bring "Blinding Dart" to level 5 first.
- "Move Quick" (W) is a trademark of Teemo and very useful with the passive speed bonus. However, one point at level 3 is enough to facilitate a potential escape from ganks, at level 5 you bring this skill to the very end.
- "Toxic Shot" is a passive ability that adds magic damage to any of your standard attacks. As a rule, take this skill to level 5 as quickly as possible and get your opponents on the ghost with the constant poison. As already explained, it can make sense in exceptional cases to level up "Blinding Dart" first. Then you only invest three points in the poison and first pull up the blinding shot.
- Teemo's specialty is its "Noxious Trap" (R). It carries up to three mushrooms, which you can place at important points on the map. If an opponent steps on it, they not only slow down, they also take a lot of damage - especially if you play Teemo as an AP build. You gain control of the entire battlefield with the mushrooms and can damage and annoy your enemies immensely with the traps.
Rune pages for AP-Teemo
Compared to other ways to play Teemo, the AP build is much more susceptible to damage, and vice versa, you can do more yourself. This is also reflected in the runes, which can also be exchanged for more defensive options.
- Marks: Magic Penetration is useful from the start and against all champions to do a lot of damage with "Toxic Shot" and "Blinding Dart". Another good option is attack speed to get even more poisonous arrows into the air each time,
- Seals: Attack Speed Marks are better than the related Seals, but attack speed is still worthwhile, as Teemo benefits greatly. Alternatively, you can also use (Scalling) Armor or Health if you want to play more defensively. Life points are then more advisable because armor in mid lane is comparatively unimportant because you are usually more likely to deal with AP champions.
- Glyphs: The simplest option is scaling AP glyphs, which are equivalent to the regular AP runes from level 7 onwards. For even more mushrooms, you can also use Cooldown Reduction, which will of course become a little weaker. If you have problems with your opponents, Magic Resistance can help.
- Quintessences: With AP runes your skills get a big boost, but also additional movement speed works very well on Teemo.
Scout Masteries
For AP-Teemos Masteries, the strong focus on damage naturally means 21 points in the offensive tree. The remaining 9 fit well in utility, but defense is also a good choice.
- Offense: Teemo benefits from both attack speed and cooldown reduction. That's why a total of 7 points in "Fury" and "Sorcery" are worth it - alternatively, one point less in Sorcery and "Summoner's Wrath". Otherwise, the offensive tree is typically AP-heavy with "Arcane Knowledge", "Spellsword" and of course "Archmage".
- Defense: First choice is 21/0/9. If you prefer to stick the 9 in the defense tree, you can make Teemo a little more persistent with additional life points and resistances.
- Utility: Movement Speed pulls extremely well at Teemo and reducing the flash cooldown twice with "Summoner's Insight" and "Mastermind" is always helpful. The "Biscuiteer" start bonus is also particularly useful so that you don't have to invest your little gold in healing potions.
AP equipment for Teemo
Teemo is very easy to build into an AD / AP hybrid and therefore has many good item options. For the extra portion of wumming in your mushrooms, you should stay away from it.
- Start with either shoes and potions or a Doran's Blade. The latter has the advantage that your opponents may classify you as AD and therefore accumulate armor instead of magic resistance, which makes them easy targets for AP-Teemo. The high attack speed of Teemo also makes Doran's Livesteal useful.
- Your first goal should be "Catalyst the Protector" and the "Rod of Ages". This makes you more resilient in every situation and gives an increasing AP boost.
- You should remove your shoes depending on the situation. Depending on the problem opponent, "Ninja Tabi" or "Mercury's Threads" help, but ideally take the "Sorcerer's Shoes", which further improve your damage through magic penetration.
- The AP Trinity "Rabadon's Deathcap", "Liandry's Torment" and "Zhonya's Hourglass" should follow if you can farm in no time and already dominate the map with your mushrooms. The order depends on your opponents. If your mushrooms work very well, concentrate on Liandry's, since the on-hit effect of "Toxic Shot" only benefits from the item to a limited extent. If you are under a lot of pressure, "Zhonya's" is the better choice with 50 armor.
- You can complete the build with the "Void Staff". If you ignore another 35 percent of the opposing Magic Resistance, even tanks will fear your mushrooms.
Scout Summoner Spells
If you want to intervene as a summoner, Flash is always worthwhile, with which you can flexibly get into or (perhaps more importantly) get out of fights. Ignite is another useful damage-over-time effect that you can use to guarantee kills. Alternatively, "Exhaust" is also worth considering.
Practical tips for using Teemos Scout
- Teemo's mushrooms give a view. So use them as often as possible to keep your lane wide. Real wards have a larger viewing radius. But they are not necessary.
- Opponents are often at the ends of bushes. Observe your own running behavior and that of other players and consciously position the mushrooms so that these paths are covered. But other bottlenecks - such as around Baron - are also worthwhile.
- A single mushroom in your inventory can save your life if you place it as soon as you get stuck. The slow stops your opponents as you speed away with your speed bonus and turn them around.
- Teemo's passive "camouflage" ability makes him invisible when he stands still and does nothing. Use this to ambush your opponents when you know where a potential victim is about to appear. The speed bonus you get when you emerge from camouflage often ensures a quick kill.
If you want to dominate the League of Legends, you not only have to master your own champion, but also know your enemies. The League of Legends Champions app is recommended as a quick reference.
