You want to play LoL and then that - the installation of the new update always hangs. No matter how many times you restart the League of Legends client, nothing happens. This practical tip shows you how to fix the update error and plunge back into battle.
LoL does not patch - repair errors
If the update process fails again and again, Riot has integrated a function in League of Legends with which you can check the game for errors.
- To do this, start the League of Legends client and click on the question mark at the top right.
- Then a pop-up window appears.
- Select the "Repair" option here.
- Your LoL client is then checked for errors and these are then fixed.
League of Legends update still hangs - start the program as administrator
If the repair function does not improve, you should try to start the program as administrator.
- Go to the path on your computer where you installed League of Legends.
- There you will find the file "lo.launcher.admin.exe".
- Run the file. After that, patching LoL works again in most cases.
Reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework for the Lol patch to work
Even if you already have ".NET Framework 4" installed on your computer, installing the .NET Framework 3.5 can fix the League of Legends update problem.
- Download ".NET Framework 3.5".
- After you run the file, other components are downloaded.
- Then start the League of Legends client and try whether patching works.
Firewall prevents LoL update
Sometimes there are conflicts between LoL and the firewall. If you switch it off, League of Legends can download the update.
- This practical tip shows you how to deactivate the firewall under Windows. If you are using a Mac, read here how to turn off the firewall.
- If the update works this way, you can add an exception for League of Legends in the firewall settings.
Reinstall League of Legends manually
If all of this does not help, you will have to reinstall League of Legends on your computer.
- First uninstall League of Legends from your computer and then restart it.
- Then download and install the current version of League of Legends.
- Then restart the computer.
- Now run LoL as administrator (as described in the second section).
- All of the necessary files should now be available for download from League of Legends.
