Humidifier: It makes sense in different situations
Humidifiers are often used during the heating season, but active humidification is rarely useful and necessary. You can also create a good indoor climate through other measures in your home.
Humidifiers rarely make sense
The ideal air humidity in the home is between 40 and 60 percent and can be easily measured using a hygrometer.
- In winter, the heating air is often perceived as very dry. However, perception is not always true. A measurement is definitely worthwhile.
- If the air humidity is actually too low, a humidifier does not have to be used immediately.
- As a rule, it is sufficient in every apartment to heat properly and to ventilate properly.
- A humidifier makes sense if the air humidity is permanently below 30 percent and cannot be increased by other measures.
- There is one exception: In the case of serious respiratory illnesses, a higher humidity than normal may be required. To achieve this, a humidifier can be helpful.
