Play M4a files with Spotify - Here's how
Unfortunately, playing M4a files does not work under Spotify. With a little trick you can get the songs working anyway ...
Play M4a files with Spotify
Officially, Spotify supports the formats MP3, MP4, M4A and M4R. However, the M4A and M4R formats are mostly protected by iTunes, so Spotify cannot play them. How it works anyway:
- Open iTunes and right-click on the desired title.
- Here you will find the option "Create MP3 version". If you select this, an additional version will be created that is also compatible with Spotify.
- After restarting Spotify both versions appear. You can delete the old version.
- Note: If the option "Create MP3 version" does not appear in iTunes, a different format is set. Then press [Ctrl] + [, ] on your keyboard so that the settings open. Click the "Import Settings" button and select the "MP3 encoder". Then try again.
- Tip: If you don't have iTunes installed, you can convert the songs with another program. The Freemake Audio Converter is suitable for this.
