Mac: Uninstall Adobe Updater - Here's how
The Adobe Updater can quickly become annoying on the Mac. We'll show you how to uninstall or completely disable the updater.
Here's how it works: Disable Adobe Updates in Mac OS X.
Since you cannot uninstall the Adobe Updater on the Mac, you have to deactivate it:
- Open the terminal under "Applications"> "Utilities" and start it.
- Run the command "defaults write com.adobe.AdobeUpdater.Admin Disable.Update -bool yes". This creates a file that prohibits the updater from updating.
- You can find the file under "Library"> "Preferences".
- Check whether the file "com.adobe.AdobeUpdater.Admin.plist" exists there and open it with a double click.
- Place a checkmark under "Disable.Update" (see picture).
- If that doesn't help, open the text editor and paste the following text there: "1"
- Save the file under the name "AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat" in the folder "/ Library / Application Support / Adobe / AAMUpdaterInventory / 1.0 /". Your Mac will no longer download automatic Adobe updates. However, you can still install the patches manually.
