Export Mac Address Book - Here's how
To create a backup of the Mac address book, you have to export all contacts. You can find out how this works in this practical tip.
Export all contacts from the Mac address book
The Mac "Contacts" app contains an export function that you can use to save all of your contacts. This allows you to pass on the addresses or keep them on an external memory as a backup. Here's how you do it:
- Open the "Contacts" app. You can find them in the Spotlight or in the "Programs" folder.
- In the menu bar at the top of the screen, switch to the "Storage" tab.
- Select the entry "Export ..." which is at the penultimate position and click on "Contacts archive ...".
- Determine the location of your backup. Finally, give the file a name and optionally add tags.
If you use the Time machine on your Mac, the changes to the address book are automatically saved. To do this, you must first set up the Time machine.
