Would you like to know what the MAC address on your (Apple) Mac is - i.e. the hardware address of the network interface? It's easy to find out.
Read out MAC address on Mac
You can find the MAC address in one of three ways:
- Click the apple icon and choose "About This Mac". Click on "More Information". In the section "Network" you will find the entry "MAC address". Already done. The example relates to the integrated Ethernet interface. If several interfaces are active (e.g. Ethernet and WLAN), you can select the desired interface and then read out the respective MAC address.
- In the terminal you can change the MAC address with the command "ifconfig en0 | grep ether" (for Ethernet) btw. Read out "ifconfig en1 | grep ether" (for WLAN) directly.
- Alternatively, select "Network" in the system settings and then "Additional options" -> "Ethernet" for the desired interface. The Ethernet ID shown there is the MAC address.
