Mac: App Store cannot be opened - you can do that
If the app store can no longer be opened on Mac OS X, this is usually due to incorrectly assigned rights. We'll show you how to solve the problem and get the app store up and running again.
App Store does not start on Mac: repair access rights
- Open the Finder on your Mac and switch to the "Applications" category on the left.
- Select the "Utilities" and then the "Hard Disk Utility".
- Decide for the desired hard disk on the left and click on the button "Check volume access rights" below.
- Wait until the process has been carried out and then click on the "Repair volume access rights" button.
- Note: If you wish, you can also check and repair the entire volume on the right.
Mac App Store does not open: Install combo update
- The combo updates are not distributed in the App Store like the usual updates for Mac OS X, but must be downloaded separately from Apple.
- Combo updates also exchange files that do not need to be updated again for the update. Although this is theoretically unnecessary, it often solves errors in the system.
- Simply download the latest combo update from the Apple website and start the installation file.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to clear the system cache under Mac OS X.
